Microneedling, also called (CIT) Collagen Induction Therapy, is an amazing non-invasive treatment that creates a mild irritation to the skin, producing regeneration of collagen which helps reverse the hands of time.
The microneedling procedure can be performed as often as once a month, but typically within 4-6 weeks. During the procedure, clients will be laying down for about 45 minutes.
The device I use is a pen that goes all over the face the first session will determine if you can have a lighter or heavier touch. Some of our clients have had CIT before so their skin can handle a deeper pressure.
Ultimately I am looking for redness similar to a sunburn, and recommend combining Dermaplaning and CIT to get incredible results earlier than expected.
The benefits of Microneedling Include:
- Smooths out fine lines and wrinkles for both women and men
- Treating acne for teens using a Serum
- Restoring the strength and elasticity of the skin
- Improving skin tone
- Improves scar damage
- Improves sun damage
- Shrinks pores
- Improves the absorption of topical products
- Helps reduce stretch marks
An additional benefit associated with microneedling is treating acne scars. The acne may be gone but often the client is left with scars and by stimulating the skin’s repair process, microneedling allows your skin to fill in your recessed acne scars and improve the texture and overall look of your skin.
When the service is done I like to follow up with Light Therapy, and offer two options. The first procedure is similar to a face mask and the second includes using a device that sits above your face for about 15 minutes. Both procedures help in the healing and also make you feel overall really good.
If you are considering this procedure, you should avoid:
Accutane, and other drugs and supplements, heat-based cosmetic treatments, makeup, NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), and exposure to the sun for 24-48 hours. in addition to having any cold sores.
We also do not recommend this treatment if you are on any blood thinners, as they thin the blood and can cause issues in the healing process. Also, we recommend not picking the skin, over-moisturizing, sweating, any cosmetics, and alcohol within 24-48 hours following your treatment.
